Bend Family Photographer | Montoya Family

I think it is safe to say that once you have kids, life is never as quiet as it used to be. My good friend wanted to get family portraits done for her milestone birthday and I was so honored that she chose me to do them. Her boys are some of my girls favorite friends and they are the biggest sweethearts. What a full, fun – and loud! – life they have with three beautiful boys. The boys had me laughing the whole session, especially when they broke out into a dance party with some sweet harmonica tunes by the littlest member of the family 🙂

If you are looking for a Bend family photographer to get your family portraits taken this fall/winter, please contact me via the “contact” button on the menu bar.

Bend Family Photographer | Fall What to Wear Guide

One of THE most common questions I get from my families is, “What should we wear?!?!” – usually in a panicked voice. DON’T WORRY! I am here to help! When you book a Bend Family Photography session with me I will send you my full What to Wear guide and help you every step along the way. But since we are in the thick of fall family photography season I thought it might be fun to share some real time, amazing inspiration for anyone out there who still hasn’t finalized their family outfits for their photography session.

First and foremost – PLEASE do not feel like you need to go and buy everyone in your family a new outfit for your photo session. Chances are, you have some pretty great options in your closet already. But if you want to treat yourself to a new dress or your little one to a holiday outfit, by all means feel free.

Second – please, please, PLEASE make sure that everyone is comfortable. Clothes should fit well and not be too big or too tight. Have everyone sit down and run around in their outfits to make sure they work in a variety of poses. Chances are you will be moving around a lot in your session (as well as sitting down) and you want to make sure everyone’s clothes are going to cooperate.

Third of all – be true to who you are as a family. You’ll notice that the inspiration boards I have put together below are tonal, comfortable and pretty neutral. That’s because that is what I am most drawn to, and I happen to think that neutrals make for timeless photos. HOWEVER!! If you are a family that loves bright patterns and awesome colors, please show that in your photos. These family portraits are about YOU as a family, if you dress like someone else you will never be happy with the photos.

Number Four – PLAN AHEAD! This is a tip that even I need to remind myself of when we have family portraits done. Try and have everyone’s outfits together one week before your session. That way, if you need to get anything dry cleaned or you need to exchange and item for a different size, you have plenty of time to do that without getting stressed out.

Fifth –  Don’t forget about shoes! If you are shooting outside you will likely need shoes. Make sure that they are clean and comfortable for everyone. Dirty shoes can stand out like a sore thumb and if your little ones shoes are too small you know they are going to take them off as soon as they possibly can. MOM – if you want to wear heels and are going to be outside, your best bet is to wear a cool pair of wedges – that way your heels won’t get stuck in the grass.

LASTLY – My last little tip for Fall family portraits is to think LAYERS and TEXTURES. Mix up fabrics, layer on a sweater or add a statement necklace (which can be removed in some photos for even more variety) or a great scarf or a cute hat. Gauzy dresses, chunky knit sweaters, crisp button downs – the possibilities are endless!

FAVORITE STORES

Mom – Anthropologie, J Crew, Gap, Nordstrom, Target, Free People, Old Navy

Dad – J Crew, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Nordstrom, REI for flannels and winter vests

Kiddos – Zara Kids, Baby Gap, Target, mini Boden, Hanna Anderson, Crewcuts, Osh Kosh

Bend Santa Sessions 2017

Bend family photographer santa photo session

SANTA IS COMING! SANTA IS COMING!!

I have been wanting to do Santa Sessions for a few years now and it turns out 2017 is my year! I am SO excited to host Santa in the studio this holiday season. The best, best, best thing about these Bend Santa Sessions is that you don’t have to deal with the lines or the crowds at traditional Santa locations. You kiddo(s) get to spend up to 10 minutes with Santa all by themselves. They can read their letters to Santa to him, ask him lots of questions or read a Christmas story together. There is no rush and no pressure. And it gives little ones lots of time to warm up to the big man in red.

Here are some of the nitty gritty details:

  • Each session will last approximately 10 minutes long. Afterwards, families are invited to have some milk and cookies in the studio.
  • While I (and Santa) will do our very best to get some happy expressions out of your little ones, I cannot promise that they will cooperate. But believe me – some of my FAVORITE Santa photos are those where the kids are scowling or crying. I hope that doesn’t sound mean!
  • Sessions are limited to three (3) siblings and parents are not allowed. If you have more than three children please book an additional session in order to make sure we have plenty of time for each one to get their turn with Santa.
  • Included in the session are three (3) high resolution images of your choice. A gallery will be sent to you within 5 days and you will be able to choose and download your images from there. Additional digital images, special holiday cards, limited edition framed Santa photos and holiday mini albums are available for purchase at this time. Image galleries will be open for 48 hours.
  • Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to make sure that you have lots of time to settle in before it’s your turn with Santa.
  • After booking you will receive a special edition What to Wear guide to help you choose the perfect outfit for your little ones.
  • Setup and decor will be mostly neutral – creams, tans and gold colors. And of course, Santa in red!

Available times:
these will be updated as time slots are booked.

12:30pm – 12:40pm – 12:50pm
1:00pm – 1:10pm – 1:20pm – 1:30pm – 1:40pm – 1:50pm
2:00pm – 2:10pm – 2:20pm – 2:30pm – 2:40pm – 2:50pm
3:00pm – 3:10pm- 3:20pm

TO BOOK YOUR SESSION –

Please complete THIS CONTRACT. Once I receive your signed contract I will send you an invoice for the $75 session fee. Full payment is due in order to secure your session time. When you complete the contract please write down your three preferred available times in the specified field so that I can try and schedule you for one of those times.  Please book early in order to have the best chance of getting your preferred time slot. Once your signed contract, paid invoice and session time is confirmed I will send you a special edition What to Wear guide to help you outfit your little ones for their special session with Santa.

If you are still with me THANK YOU! I cannot wait to capture the magic of Christmas with Santa and your little ones!

Bend Vacation Photographer | O’Toole Family

The O’Toole family came to visit me while here on their vacation. I loved that they wanted get their family photos done while on vacation – what a perfect time! Think about it – you’re removed from the hustle and bustle of the every day, everyone is a bit more relaxed and you’re in a beautiful part of the country. What a perfect combination and we made so many beautiful photographs that day. The kids had a great time running around the lake and exploring, and we got some amazing views of Mt. Bachelor and Broken Top. The mosquitos…well, those were not our favorite part, but we learned to live with them 🙂

*If you are vacationing in Bend, Sunriver or the surrounding Central Oregon area I would love to photograph your family! Take advantage of your beautiful location and lets make some beautiful photographs. If you are looking for a Bend vacation photographer please get in touch via the Contact tab on the menu above*
