Family Photography Session with Teenagers

Photographing Families with Teens – good or bad idea? Not only is it a good idea, it’s a GREAT idea! I know it might seem harder to get family photos done the older your children get. But I promise you it is worth the effort. Teens are going through those critical last few years at home before the leave the nest. They are changing just as much as your baby and toddlers change.

Photographing families with teens may mean less cuddles and tickle fights, but that doesn’t mean that they are any less fun. This family was a blast to work with. They had a bunch of good laughs, got to enjoy their favorite spot and overall had a really fun time. I love working with teens because – if you can get them to open up – they have so many plans and ideas and things to say. I loved having a chance to get each of the kids alone for their portraits. You really get a chance to talk to them and connect.

It seems to me, that as your children get older, getting family photos done every year becomes less and less of a priority. I get it – everyone’s schedules get busy, teens spend more time with their friends than they do at home and life is go-go-go. But, I promise you it is worth the time and effort to get them done. Soon enough they will be in college and out of the house for good. Make these memories while you still can.
