As a Ponte Vedra Family Photographer I sure get my fair share of beach sessions. And for good reason – they are beautiful! However, our little corner of Florida has so many stunning little nooks to explore. For example, this place where the K Family had their family photos taken. This is Alpine Groves Park in western St. Johns County, pretty much as far away from the beach that you can get. But can we just stop for a minute and admire those AMAZING live oak trees?? And that moss?? Don’t even get me started on that yummy, golden sunrise light.

If you have had a session with me or have looked around my website you probably know that I like shooting during “golden hour”. The hour (ish) before sunset that produces all of that amazing, golden, flattering light that a lot of my photos feature. BUT, did you also know that the hour right AFTER Sunrise has the same delicious light? Honestly I don’t shoot a lot of sunrise sessions as most time it is way too early for my clients. However, during the late fall (October and December) and early spring (January and March) this is an excellent option for my clients, as sessions wouldn’t start until 7am or later. If your kids are anything like my kids, they are up before the sun anyway – ha!

So if you are a client that has a lot of afternoon and evening commitments (hello sports, clubs and maybe even date night for mom and dad!) on the weekends then you should definitely consider sunrise for your next family photography session.
