Summer is definitely a popular time to schedule extended family photography sessions. Many families are on vacation together and want to have photographs made. I think it’s such a great idea! The H Family joined me last summer for some updated family photographs. They were sweet as can be and we had so much fun together. The great thing about extended family sessions is that if one set of kiddos has some extra energy to get rid of, we can easily transition to photographing other parts of the family. I made sure to work quickly with each nuclear family and give the kiddos lots of breaks. I even had them be my helpers and make funny faces at the adults. It was a super silly and fun change of pace.

After all of the formal portraits are done and we’ve made all of the “must have” photographs it is a “must have” to let everybody have some fun! I would say 90% of the families I work with love to play in or near the water during our session, and these cuties were no exception! I mean really. How can you resist with all of that beautiful water?? Letting the kids (and adults) play at the end makes for some wonderful candid moments doing what they do best. Having fun and loving each other.
