If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. You can also use our fave TinyJpeg to make them small so your blog posts still load quickly!

2018 Personal Project | A Life From This Lens – September

October 6, 2018

*This year I am participating in a personal project with a group of amazing photographers. We created a blog circle where we challenge ourselves creatively and technically throughout 2018. Life From This Lens is a fascinating look at how a group of photographers around the country interpret the same prompt (or theme) each month. Please follow along in the circle and see everyone’s take on the theme each month. This months theme was A Day in the Life*

I have been wanting to do a Day in the Life project for years and I am so glad that this project finally pushed me to actually do on! What is a “Day in the Life” project? It’s pretty simple – document every part of your day. Nothing staged, nothing planned, just pure documentary photography. I chose a day in late September when I was solo parenting and trying to pack for a cross country visit to New York for my sister’s wedding. Soooo…not exactly the most relaxed day ever and I’ll be honest all of that added to the challenge.

I wish I had gotten a few more pictures throughout the day. My eldest is barely featured, I didn’t get any shots of them getting ready for bed, and I definitely got a haircut somewhere during the day. BUT. Done is better than perfect, and I’m so glad I have a little snapshot of one of our typical days.

They sure are cute but y’all…I had a huge blister within an hour! And don’t mind our morning snacks/breakfast on the go. Whatever makes school drop off quicker and quieter in my opinion is a win-win. I had an appointment to check out a fairly new bridal store in town (Bespoke Bride) as a potential location for my annual Santa Sessions. The place was gorgeous and was exactly what I was looking for! A few more errands and then it was time to get my little one home from preschool and down for a nap. Her after-nap hair and expressions always crack me up. The leaves were just beginning to turn to fall colors and I wanted to make sure to document it! Fridays are movie and pizza night at our house. Don’t worry – I totally did not make that pizza dough from scratch. Trader Joe’s all the way. Very rarely do I have the energy to clean a sink full of dishes after the girls are in bed, so instead I enjoyed the peace and quiet on the couch. Not a bad end to a busy Friday.a day in the life projectbend wedding photographerbend photographer, drinks, fall foliage in bend oregon, bend photographernap time, documentary photographypopcorn, watching movies, a day in the life projectmaking pizza, kid cooks, bend family photographerdocumentary photographer

MEET tracy

Photographer, mother, creative. Obsessed with travel, time near the water, reading, and the beautifully imperfect nature of family life.

I’m Tracy - family photographer, mom of two, and the one who stays relaxed when things get a little wild. After more than ten years photographing families, I’ve learned that the good stuff happens when you stop trying so hard. With a serious sweet tooth and a strong belief that family photos should actually be fun, I bring a calm, easy energy to every session.
