Being a Children's Photographer is quite possibly the best job in the world. Hear me out. I get to spend an hour with you and your family in a beautiful location. We play games, tell jokes and all around have a great time. I love seeing a family connect in front of my camera. Capturing those small moments - hugs, kisses, a knowing look between mom and dad - they all make my heart do a little happy dance. But one of my favorite parts of our time together is focusing on each individual child.

We generally start the session with formal portraits. Everyone is a little stiff and is getting into their groove, figuring out how to be comfortable in front of the camera. Kids especially are a bit shy and wanting to stick close to their parents. But after a little warming up and a few games everyone is feeling more relaxed. That is usually when I break the kids away for individual portraits.I love getting down on their level and connecting with them. I love to ask them questions about their favorite toys, how school is going and random questions about the upcoming holidays or vacations. This gives them a chance for the focus to be on them, which can be exciting especially if they are from a big family. And while I aim to get a few smiling portraits, being a children's photographer is much more than that. It is capturing their essence. Who they really are in those few moments. If they are shy or curious or silly or serious or any and all of the above, I try my hardest to capture that.

If you would like to book a family photography session for you and your children this fall, please get in touch! I would love to work with you!
