NOTE —

If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. You can also use our fave TinyJpeg to make them small so your blog posts still load quickly!

Summer Mini Sessions

I‘m so excited that you’re here! The original mini sessions in this blog post are done. But I would love to have you for sign up for my upcoming FALL MINI SESSIONS. You can see all of the information and book your session by clicking on the button below.

Mini sessions are such a great way to quickly get an updated family photo. My favorite Jacksonville mini session locations include the beach (obviously), Alpine Groves Park and studio sessions. Given how unpredictable the weather can be here in Florida, the studio sessions allow the weather to act as crazy as it wants without derailing our plans! No matter where the location is for your mini session, they are sure to turn out beautiful.

Have you booked a mini session for this year? Here are my top tips on how to prepare for your Jacksonville mini session.

  1. Prepare your outfits at least one week ahead of time – lay everyone’s outfits out, steam/iron them, have everyone try their clothes on – including shoes if the location is anywhere besides the beach! This will give you enough time before hand to fix anything that doesn’t fit or if you need to quickly order a replacement for something.

  2. Prepare your children before hand – depending on the age of your kids, you’ll want to explain what the session will be like a few days or a week ahead of time. If they are older (6+) you can tell them something like, “We have a super fun photo session with Miss Tracy coming up this weekend. It is going to be a lot quicker than sessions we have done in the past, it’ll probably be over before you know it!” or if they are younger (3-6) you could say, “We are going to see Miss Tracy this weekend and I just know she is going to make you laugh and laugh. It’s always so fun when we see her!”

  3. Leave early – on the day of your session, make sure to leave plenty of time to travel to, park and walk to the location so that you arrive on time or even early. Mini sessions are just that – mini. Short and sweet, but that doesn’t give you a lot of leeway if there is traffic or it takes you ten minutes longer to park than you thought it would. Often times mini sessions are scheduled back to back, so if you show up ten minutes late there may only be 5 minutes left to try and take some photos. Bring a few books or favorite toys for the kids to play with if you do end up arriving super early.

MEET tracy

Photographer, mother, creative. Obsessed with travel, time near the water, reading, and the beautifully imperfect nature of family life.

I’m Tracy - family photographer, mom of two, and the one who stays relaxed when things get a little wild. After more than ten years photographing families, I’ve learned that the good stuff happens when you stop trying so hard. With a serious sweet tooth and a strong belief that family photos should actually be fun, I bring a calm, easy energy to every session.
